After being closed for renovations that have dragged on nearly a decade, the Waldorf Astoria New York is getting ready to finally reopen.
Hilton announced Monday that the property is expected to reopen sometime in spring 2025. While there isn't an official reopening date just yet, we do know when reservations will come back online: Next Tuesday, Dec. 10.
Set in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, the historic hotel closed in 2017 for what was initially expected to be a speedy restoration. But the pandemic and other snafus clearly derailed that project … until now.
The reopened Waldorf Astoria New York will have just 375 rooms, including 78 suites. But even entry level rooms will start around 570 square feet – massive by New York City standards. By the looks of it, the room design is simple yet undeniably elegant.
Elsewhere, the renovation preserved historical elements from the hotel, like the Grand Ballroom and the hotel lobby.
The property features over 43,000 square feet of event space, including an iconic Grand Ballroom. There's also a state-of-the-art spa and fitness center, and an outdoor terrace overlooking the city.
The hotel's signature restaurant, Lex Yard, will feature dining curated by Chef Michael Anthony in a two-story setting.
